Ways to use Stencils / Decorative Masks

Have you seen the Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks in the 2022 January-June Mini Catalogue? There are three background stencils as well as layering stencils for butterflies, roses, leaves and other flowers. Last week I showcased some of the stencils, and today I am using the rest of them.

Here are the masks / stencils. Click on the link to visit my online shop.

Card 1: I used Bumblebee ink with the mask on a piece of Marbleous Designer Series Paper, attached it to Pattern Party DSP and then to a Bumblebee card base. Cone Flowers and butterfly silhouettes were die cut from Harvest Dies and Meadow Dies. The Marbleous DSP provides extra dimension to the masking.

Of course, the inside and envelope match.

Card 2: After adding colour to the daisy mask in an ombre pattern, I left the mask on and embossed the cardstock. WOW! This gives so much texture to the card. The fern was stamped and die cut with the Positive Thoughts stamps and matching Nature’s Thoughts Dies.

… and matching inside and envelope

Card 3: I created a Z Fold card with the vine mask and added die cuts from the Iconic Dies.

Card 4: The layering butterfly uses Pacific Point ink. It was then fussy cut and attached to a Stitched So Sweetly rectangle die cut. Some Gilded Leafing was added to a piece of Balmy Blue Neutrals DSP. After attaching the DSP to a Balmy Blue card front, it was embossed with the Splatters 3D Embossing Folder.

Tips:

  • Blending Brushes are perfect for adding colour to these stencils / decorative masks. However you could also use sponge daubers for the same effect.
  • Supplies: see the list below the post.
