Using a Die as an Embossing Folder

Have you ever used any of your dies to create an embossed image? It is easier than you think. Today I have used the Eyelet Blooms Die to create two very different embossed looks. For both cards I used Night of Navy Card Base with Petunia Pop two-tone card stock. The flowers and greenery were stamped with Bubble Bath, Berry Burst and Old Olive inks and die cut with the matching dies.

Card 1: Once the cardstock was embossed I lightly sanded the raised side to bring out some of the white core.

Card 2: This time I used the debossed side on the front of the card.

The method I used to emboss with the die:

  • Each die cutting machine will have its own sandwich – check out their instructions. The following works for me with the Big Shot.
  • Emboss using the following sandwich: Big Shot Platform with Tab 2 open (or with the new platform – no adapters)
  • Acrylic Plate
  • Die with cutting side up
  • Cardstock (in the die)
  • Thin Silicone Mat
  • White Impressions Pad

Both sides provide beautiful results. Which is your favourite?
