Pop Out Swing Cards with Blooming Phrases

The Pop Out Swing Card packs quite a WOW punch and yet it is one of the simplest cards to make. You can use any shape for the front aperture and decorate as much or as little as you like. See some earlier examples here.

Card 1: For this one I used the new In Color Strawberry Slush (yes, it was a colour many years ago) for the card base with Secret Sea (another new In Color) for the Memorable Blooms die cuts. The flowers of the die cut have been coloured with Pretty in Pink ink. The sentiment is from Blooming Phrases and the die cuts for the sentiment are from the new More Messages Die. Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls provide some bling.

Card 2: Circles from the Stylish Shapes Dies were used for the aperture on this card base of Secret Sea. I used a piece of the Beautiful Gallery DSP and selectively coloured it with watercolor pencils. Antique Pearls provide some elegant embellishments.

How easy are they to make?

  • Measurements:
    • Card base: 21cm x 14.8cm scored at 10.5cm
    • Insert: 20cm x 14.3cm scored at 5cm, 10cm, 15cm
  • Instructions:
    • Centre die on the front of the card base and die cut.
    • Stamp a sentiment and images as desired on the centre and right hand pieces of the insert. Burnish all three score lines well.
    • Attach the right hand side of the insert to the right hand side of the inside of the card (see the photo above).
    • Close the insert. Attach the left hand side of the insert to the inside of the card front.
    • Close the card and attach the die cut piece in the negative space (only adding adhesive to the right hand part showing through.
    • Add sentiment to the front.

  3. Hi Mal, Not too hard! Make a standard card base of 8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”. Then cut the inside piece to 8″ x 5¼” score at 2″, 4″ and 6″. Let me know if you have any issues. xxx
