Masculine Birthday cards using Take to the Sky Papers

Many people seem to find it difficult to make masculine cards. I find it is best not to overthink the process and use some of my standards layouts and generally let the patterned papers do the rest. You can use these layouts over and over and they will always look different based on the colours and DSP of the individual card.

Today I have a set of masculine cards using the Take to the Sky Designer Series Paper. (As an added bonus it is one of the many DSP packs in the Annual Catalogue that are on sale during August in my online shop.)

Card 1: The card base is Smoky Slate. A piece of DSP 10cm square was cut on the diagonal and added to the base. Layers of Mossy Meadow and another pattern of the DSP were placed over it. Finally The Heartfelt Hexagon Punch was used on a piece of Mossy Meadow which was stamped with a sentiment from Layering Leaves. Some Linen Thread behind the punched piece adds a little interest.

Card 2: This one uses three different patterns of the DSP. The two on the Night of Navy card base have a 1cm layer of Night of Navy over the join. The sentiment from Timeless Greetings (kit) was stamped on half of an Unbounded Love die cut.

Card 3: Another one which uses three different patterns of the DSP on a Night of Navy card base. The sentiment also from Timeless Greetings is stamped on the other half of the die cut used on card 2.

Card 4: Another 3 patterns have been used here on a Smoky Slate card base. The great thing about this DSP pack is that it has a page made up of tags (two used here) and small rectangular patterns (two used in card 3). This time the sentiment is from Light the Candles (kit), again on an Unbounded Love die cut. The Linen Thread adds interest to the ‘tags’.

Card 5: This time I have used another two of the small pieces offset on a Mossy Meadow card base. This was then embossed with the ‘cross hatch’ Basics 3D Embossing Folder to create an inlaid or embedded embossing look. The sentiment is also from Light the Candles (kit).

Card 6: For the last card in my set today I have used two of the patterns, one on the Smoky Slate card base and the ‘map’ image cut into a triptych and layered onto Copper Clay. The sentiment (stamped deliberately on a slight angle on another Unbounded Love die cut) is also from Timeless Greetings. The Earth Tones Shimmer Gems add just the right amount of bling for a masculine look.
