How to create a Faux Vintage Photo look for your card

Do you create any vintage style cards? I don’t do them very often but love the look.

Today I am trying a Faux Vintage Photo look with the retired Fanciful Fragrance stamp set.

Tips:

  • You can create either a black & white or a sepia look with this technique. For this card I am using the sepia look. Use black and shades of gray for a black & white effect.
  • Take a piece of Glossy White cardstock and mask off the edges.
  • Stamp image using Stazon Saddle Brown ink and allow to dry.
  • Take a white crayon and create some ‘scratches’ on the panel to give the illusion of age.
  • Use a Blending Brush with Crumb Cake ink and cover the entire panel. The ink will resist the crayon scratches.
  • Remove the masking from around the edge of the art panel and use the Blending Brush to add a little ink around the edge. You shouldn’t need to add any more ink – just use what is on the brush.
  • Create a collage / vintage background on the Thick Very Vanilla card base using Copper Clay, Pecan Pie and Crumb Cake inks.
  • Use a Blending Brush to add these inks to a vellum doily.
  • Assemble the card and add a sentiment.
  • Decorate the inside and envelope to match.
