Create a Christmas Tree with Sponge Daubers

Looking to create a very handmade Christmas card? Grab some sponge daubers, watercolor paper and ink pads and you are ready to go.

Tips:

  • Use a pencil and lightly outline the tree shape.
  • Take a few different green ink pads (Old Olive, Shaded Spruce and Soft Sea Foam) with some sponge daubers and gradually fill in the shape. You can see how I added definition to the tree layers with the edges of the daubers.
  • I used Shimmery Crystal Effects and Silver Glass Glitter to create the tinsel and added an adhesive backed star on the top.
  • Ground the tree with a Water Painter and some Smoky Slate ink.
  • Watercolor a sky with Balmy Blue ink and a Water Painter.
  • Add a few stamped leaves and a sentiment.
  • Supplies:
    • Stamp Sets: Christmas Whimsy, Peaceful Deer
    • Cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Watercolor Paper
    • Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Smoky Slate, Old Olive, Shaded Spruce, Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue
    • Accessories: Sponge Daubers, Shimmery Crystal Effects, Silver Glass Glitter, Adhesive Backed Stars, Water Painter
