How is this for a subtle look? It is called Frosted Window and the tutorial is available at Splitcoaststampers.
Just take a piece of white cardstock and a piece of vellum paper. Stamp the same image on both. Colour the cardstock image with very bright colours, and then colour the back of the vellum image with more muted colours. Join the two pieces with dimensionals and add a frame. Result, a perfect frosted window.
